This program accommodates five homeless men who have serious and persistent mental illness, some with substance abuse disorders as well. All of the residents are able to utilize public transportation and travel independently. Some men attend AA meetings in the community on a weekly basis. Most enjoy outings to the nearby shopping centers and participate in recreational activities sponsored by the Department of Mental Health or by the program. Admission to this program is limited to referrals made by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. A waiting list is maintained by the Director of Housing of the Dr. Solomon Carter Fuller Mental Health Center. Applicants need to be homeless and meet the criteria of the specific housing subsidy utilized by the program.
