The Town of Uxbridge is a bedroom community of about 10,500 people in the Blackstone Valley, 40 miles from Boston and minutes away from Providence, RI and Worcester MA. The Uxbridge Housing Authority began with 22 units of Veterans Housing, and added 30 units of Housing for Elderly/Disabled in 1961 off of Bruce Street known as Calumet Court. Another 56 units were added in 1975 with a separate community building adjacent to Calumet Court, known as Centennial Court.
In the early 80’s, the UHA partnered with Alternatives Unlimited to develop a community residence on High Street which has been a home for 8 of their consumers since 1982.
In the late 80’s, the UHA added an additional community residence at Veterans Parkway, in partnership with the Department of Mental Retardation, for 8 consumers completed in 1988, as well as expanding Veterans Parkway with 12 Units for Families, 2 of which were handicapped accessible units.
Has van for elderly buildings. All units are centrally located, within walking distance of banks, shopping, churches, convenience stores, and restaurants.
