The apartment building has a total of 42 units for individuals and families who can benefit from a supportive, independent living environment while pursuing an educational endeavor to increase their capacity to live effectively. Educational endeavors include skills training programs, twelve-step programs, family stabilization programs, independent living programs. Applicants must bring with them a commitment to given educational goals and the necessary support systems to achieve the goals. In-house programs are also available based on resident needs assessments. Applicants should be aware of a community commitment to maintaining a clean and sober environment, and they need to be willing and able to cooperate in supporting it. Also includes New Beginnings at Bethany Hill, an AIDS Housing Program within the building, serves 12 men and women living with HIV/AIDS. Applicants must be homeless and have 90 days of clean time.
Bethany Hill School Apartments is a five story building on a large open campus on a hill, within 15 minutes walking distance of downtown Framingham and the commuter rail station. A lift bus to downtown stops in front of the building several times daily. The building is wheelchair accessible, as are the common rooms and most units. All floors except the top floor are serviced by an elevator. Other amenities include a resident parking lot, a community garden, a children's playground, and a coin-operated laundry.
The on-site management office is staffed during business hours; an answering service and a Resident Responder are available during off-hours. The New Beginnings program staff is available 24/7.
Visitors access the building using an intercom system connecting the lobby to the individual apartment. Visitors announce themselves and the resident may "buzz" them in.
During building evacuation drills and smoke/fire emergencies, an auditory alarm signal the need to leave the building. In handicap apartments, a strobe signal also is triggered.
