The Litchfield Program provides service to individuals with mental health challenges. Currently (as of summer 2003), the program has four men and four women at its residence. Four individuals live on each of the two floors, which are self contained apartments. Both apartments are staffed 24 hours a day. Service focuses on psych-social rehabilitation programs including self-care. All residents receive therapy and medical and dental care as needed through community providers. Rehab includes development and maintenance of good hygiene, healthy eating, self-administration of medications and achievement of personal goals, which is taught and reinforced daily by our staff. Rehabilitation also includes integration into the community through day programs, job training, activities and community involvement; all of which are tailored according to each individual?s goals, and supported by the program staff. Referrals are accepted through the Department of Mental Health.
