This transitional residence is the first step toward living in the community following discharge from long-term institutional (such as hospital or shelter) care. This is the most intensively staffed program that Bay Cove and the Erich Lindemann Mental Health Center offer for people with mental illness. Eleven men and women are served in the program. In addition to their mental illness, a number of residents have significant chronic medical illnesses. Because of their level of disability, many residents remain at Harbor House for extended stays averaging seven years, until they are ready to move into a community-based housing program.
This program is located on the Plaza Level of the
Lindemann Center in downtown Boston. Three staff members work during weekdays to cover the large number of medical appointments.
