Program Details:

Short walk to bus line. Council on Aging offers a van that drives tenants to shopping, medical appts, etc. This van must be scheduled a day in advance. Onsite coin-operated laundry. Close proximity to shopping, places of worship, etc. The Marblehead Housing Authority owns and manages 307 units of family and elderly/handicapped conventional housing.

The MHA family housing complexes are located at Barnard Hawkes Court, Broughton Road and New Broughton Road. These developments have either 2 or 3 bedroom units. Residents pay 27% of their adjusted income for rent. Residents pay for their own utilities, but receive an annual heat allowance of $500.00 (2 bedroom units) or $600.00 (3 bedroom units).

The MHA elderly housing complexes are located at Powder House Court, Green Street Court, Farrell Court, New Farrell Court and the Roads School. Residents pay 30% of their adjusted monthly income for rent, which includes utilities.

Residents of the Marblehead Housing Authority receive a monthly newsletter, and the Authority hosts a monthly coffee hour and speaker series, as well as several annual events, including the Safety Program, Holiday Party and Summer Cookout.

All developments have coin operated on-site laundry and community room facilities.

Eligibility is based on income and a demonstrated ability to comply with all lease provisions through favorable past housing history, credit checks and a criminal records check. Residents remain eligible as long as they are in compliance with their lease and/or until their rent equals DHCD established maximum allowable rent levels.

Preferences are granted to qualified veterans, minorities and persons who currently work or reside in Marblehead.
