Open to those age 60 and over and/or disabled with legal custody of 1 or 2 grandchildren of the same gender. There are 12 townhouses, 2 single-level units and one wheelchair accessible unit. The apartments are located at BHA?s Franklin Field development in Dorchester. They have recently been renovated and opened in November 2002. Each unit has 1000 square feet of living space and includes two bedrooms, a kitchen, living room, and dining room. The townhouses have a full and half bath. The master bedroom and full bath in each apartment have emergency pull cords. Washer and dryer hookups are available in each unit
While the BHA has already held a lottery to fill the units, there may be units still available. These units will be made available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The waiting list will also be established on a first-come, first-serve basis. Rents are calculated at 30% of a resident's income.
The buildings have front and rear stairs, and are not wheelchair accessible.
MBTA bus 28 runs along Blue Hill Avenue between Mattapan Station and Ruggles. MBTA bus 29 runs along Blue Hill Avenue and Seaver Street from Mattapan Station to Jackson Station. (Limited runs provide direct service into Franklin Field Development.)
