St. James's Summer Shelter is a student-run transitional homeless shelter which operates during the summer. Closely related with the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter, we differ in that our program's main goal is to help each client transition out of ho melessness permanently.
To that end, we provide each client with a permanent bed for the duration of the program; three meals a day; access to a case manager who helps him set and accomplish long-term goals; access to job and housing search counselors; and a number of other a menities. St. James's Summer Shelter is widely known throughout the Boston area for its high staff-to-client ratio, its friendly, supportive atmosphere, and its success at helping clients accomplish their long-term goals.
