Every winter since 1983, the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter, staffed and directed by students at Harvard University, has provided food, housing, and a friendly, supportive environment for two dozen men and women each night during the five coldest months of the year
The Harvard Square Homeless Shelter is just down the street from the Harvard Square stop on the MBTA's red line. Numerous bus lines also stop at Harvard Square, including Bus Routes 1, 66, 68, 69, 71, 72, 73, 74/75, 77, 77a, 78, 86, and 96. The Harvard Square Homeless Shelter is located at 66 Winthrop St, in the basement of the University Lutheran Church.
