Abbot Mill is being brought back to life. A painstaking restoration with exquisite attention to detail has transformed this historic mill into unique loft-style residences that respect the past while catering to the lifestyles of today. The crown jewel of Westford?s Forge Village, which was named to the National Register in 2002, the Abbot Mill complex is set along the banks of Stony Brook. The Abbot Worsted Company acquired the old forge building, which produced axels, iron parts and nails, to expand their manufacture of carpet yarn in 1879. It was replaced with the current brick mill in 1910. The surrounding area is an architecture buff?s dream, includes 274 structures representing a broad range of architectural styles: Colonial, Federal, Greek Revival, Victorian Eclectic, Colonial Revival and Cape Cod-style.
