Catalyst Housing will be a new 24-unit, deeply affordable, highly supportive community of homes for homeless young adults. The units will be built on the top two floors of an existing, historic building in downtown Lynn, located adjacent to the MBTA Commuter Rail, blocks from the Community College, and surrounded by the amenities and services in downtown Lynn. Extensive supportive services will be available for all residents, provided by The Haven Project, which is located on the second floor of the same building. The first floor is home to a café run by The Haven Project, Land of a Thousand Hills, which provides employment and job training to their clients.
Catalyst Housing LLC is providing this affordable rental opportunity under a Special Permit. The (24) units will all be small studio apartments approximately 289 square feet each. Each unit will have its own bathroom and a small kitchen, providing space for independent, secure living. Common areas will include a study lounge, laundry room, and offices for a property manager and a Haven Project case worker. The building will be served by a new elevator. Two (2) of the (24) units will be Mobility Accessible, and one (1) unit will support a resident with Hearing-Impairment. (23) of the (24) units will be restricted to applicants at or below the 30% AMI limit. The 24th unit will be leased to a resident property manager and will not be income restricted (market rate). Except for the units designated for Mobility Accessibility or Hearing-Impairment, the affordable units will be indistinguishable from the market rate resident manager unit. All units will have standard apartment grade finishes.
