The nonprofit Vietnam American Initiative for Development (VietAID) constructed a three-story building with six apartments on Faulkner Street in 2002 as part of its ongoing goal of building a strong Vietnamese community and a vibrant, diverse area in the Fields Corner area of Dorchester
The buildings provide 3 two-bedroom apartments and 3 three-bedroom units, with two apartments per floor. Their clapboard design fits the architectural style of the neighborhood and the careful landscaping enhances the streetscape. There are also nine off-street parking spaces, including one handicapped space. VietAID also supported the building of a community garden on a vacant lot on the corner of Faulkner and Freeman streets, to both preserve some open space in the neighborhood and to promote the cultural diversity of the area through the variety of vegetables from different lands. It is called Peace-An Binh Community Garden.
